Apple fritter rings

Apple fritter rings are a type of fritter made with rings od apple deep-fried in batter and often served covered with powdered sugar, cinnamon or honey.

  • 4 Renette apples;
  • 3/4 cup flour;
  • 1 tablespoon butter;
  • 1/2 cup Rum for to prep the apples and 1/2 cup for the dought;
  • 1/2 cup milk;
  • 1 tablespoon butter;
  • 1 teaspoon salt;
  • 11/2 cups powdered sugar;
  • 1 egg;
  • vegetable oil, for frying.

Prep the apples: slice the apples into 1/4 – inch – thick rounds. Using the knife, cut each apple slice discariding the centre core. Put them in a medium bowl, sprinkle with powdered sugar and add 1/2 cup of Rum. Set aside until ready to use.

For the dought: whisk together the egg (keep the yolk separate from the white) butter, salt, flour, Rum and milk in the bowl of a stand mixer, 3 to 4 minutes. Set aside for up half hours. Beat egg white in bowl with whisk attachment on high speed until foamy and incorporated it into the mixture.

Dip the apples into the batters and let them fry. Fry on one side until golden brown, then flip the fritter the other side until golden brown.
